GIFTED STUDENTS PROGRAM – QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

In order to qualify for the Gifted Students program, an applicant’s scores must meet or exceed the criteria listed below in two out of the three options. Test reports can be emailed to tony@thelearningcoachonline.com as PDF files.

Two of the following three options are required.

OPTION #1

ACCEPTED INDIVIDUALLY ADMINISTERED IQ TESTS

These tests can be taken at the learning coach offices. If you choose this option you need submit only 1 IQ test.

Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales Standard score (99.7th percentile) 
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fourth or Fifth Edition (WISC-IV or WISC-V) Standard score (99.7th percentile) on at least one of the following: Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Reasoning (WISC-IV only), General Ability Index (GAI) or Full Scale

OPTION #2

ACCEPTED ACHIEVEMENT TESTS

These tests can be taken at the learning coach offices. If you choose this option you need submit only 1 Achievement test.

Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement – Second or Third Edition (KTEA-II or KTEA-3) Standard score (99.7th percentile) on at least one of the following: Reading Composite, Math Composite, Written Language Composite or Comprehensive Achievement Composite
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition (WIAT – III)
Standard score (99.7th percentile) on at least one of the following: Total Reading Composite, Mathematics Composite, Written Expression Composite or Total Achievement Composite

OPTION #4

PORTFOLIO OF ACADEMIC WORK SAMPLES

Please submit four academic work samples clearly demonstrating the applicant’s advanced abilities in areas such as math, writing, reading, science or social studies working two to three grade levels above age peers. Portfolio items should be completed without the assistance of teachers or parents. Please include the applicant’s age and grade level at the time of completion. All work samples must be emailed as PDFs.

The portfolio can include one or more videos demonstrating the applicant’s academic abilities. Videos should consist of the applicant discussing an area of interest, demonstrating advanced comprehension of academic material (science, mathematics, literature, etc.) or presenting a project that is at least two to three grade levels above age peers. All video files can be placed privately on your Youtube Channel with access enabled for us.
